Jessica Korda Amateur career
Both the 2009 U.S. Junior Solheim Cup and the 2010 U.S. Curtis Cup squads included Korda. She competed in amateur events, winning the South Atlantic Amateur in 2010 and making the cut in the U.S. Women’s Open in 2008 and 2009. In 2008, Korda played in her first U.S. Open and posted the only round in the 60s on Sunday, shooting a 69 to finish T19. She came in second place at the 2010 US Women’s Amateur.
She competed in the World Amateur Team Championship Espirito Santo Trophy in 2006 for the Czech Republic and the United States, placing tied for fourth individually and taking home the silver medal with her team in 2010.
As a 17-year-old, Korda started LPGA Tour Qualifying School in the fall of 2010. She placed second in the last qualifying round, qualifying her for full Tour membership in 2011.
Jessica Korda Professional career
During the second competition in the 2011 campaign, Korda turned 18. Her highest placing was a tie for 19th in the Avnet LPGA Classic during her debut season, which saw her compete in 15 events. The Women’s Australian Open at Royal Melbourne, the opening competition of the 2012 season, marked her maiden professional victory. Her triumph came on the second hole of a six-person playoff following rounds of 72-70-73-74.
In the season-opening Pure Silk-Bahamas LPGA Classic in January 2014, Korda captured her second LPGA Tour victory by finishing one stroke ahead of Stacy Lewis.
Jessica Korda Personal life
The former professional tennis players Petr Korda and Regina Rajchrtová are the parents of Korda. Her father won the 1998 Australian Open, one of the four grand slams. Sebastian, her younger brother, won the boys’ section in the 2018 Australian Open.
At the 2013 U.S. Women’s Open, her personal and professional worlds collided. She and caddie Jason Gilroyed clashed frequently during the third round of that competition, and she fired him after her first nine holes score was five over par. She then requested that her caddy for the remainder of the round be Johnny DelPrete, a professional golfer who is her boyfriend. DelPrete was on Korda’s bag for the final nine holes, and she shot 1-under over that stretch.
Nelly Korda, her younger sister, joined her on the 2017 LPGA Tour after obtaining a card through the Symetra Tour and rising to the top spot in the 2021 Women’s World Golf Rankings.
On December 11, 2021, she was married to her longtime partner Johnny DelPrete.
