When Thompson won the Navistar LPGA Classic on September 18, 2011, she broke the previous record for the youngest player to ever win an LPGA event. Alexi was 16 years, 7 months, and 8 days old at the time.

She won the Dubai Ladies Masters by four strokes on December 17, 2011, three months later, making her the second-youngest winner of a Ladies European Tour competition. Thompson became the second-youngest LPGA golfer to win a major when she captured her first major title at the 2014 Kraft Nabisco Championship at the age of 19 years, 1 month, and 27 days (she still ranks in the top-5 youngest LPGA major winners).
