Peter Michael Davidson

Peter Michael Davidson (born November 16, 1993) is a comedian, actor, and writer from the United States. Davidson, who was born and raised in New York City, began his career in the early 2010s with minor roles on Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Friends of the People, and Guy Code. Scott Matthew Davidson, his father, was a New York firefighter who died in the World Trade Center during the September 11th attacks in 2001. Davidson joined the cast of NBC’s Saturday Night Live in 2014 and is set to leave in 2022. Davidson has also appeared on Wild ‘n Out, The Jim Gaffigan Show, Give Converse with Pete Davidson, and Failosophy, as well as on Adam DeVine’s House Party, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and Comedy Underground with Dave Attell.

In 2020, he co-wrote and starred in The King of Staten Island, a semi-autobiographical comedy-drama film. Davidson received three International Competition honours for the film at the CinEuphoria Awards: one for Best Actor and two nominations for Best Ensemble and Best Screenplay. For the film, Davidson was nominated for Best Actor and Best Original Screenplay at the 2020 Hollywood Critics Association Midseason Awards. In 2020, he was nominated for a People’s Choice Award for Favorite Comedy Movie Star.

Early life

Peter Michael Davidson[4] was born on November 16, 1993, in New York City’s Staten Island borough, the son of Amy (née Waters) and Scott Matthew Davidson. His father was a New York firefighter who was killed in the line of duty during the 9/11 attacks. He was last seen running up the Marriott World Trade Center’s stairs just before it collapsed. His Requiem Mass was held at St. Clare’s Roman Catholic Church on Staten Island’s Great Kills. The loss had a profound effect on Davidson, who was seven at the time. He told The New York Times that it was “overwhelming,” and that as a result of the trauma, he later acted out in school, ripping his hair out until he was bald. He revealed this in October of 2016.He revealed on The Breakfast Club morning radio show that he used to have suicidal thoughts and that Kid Cudi’s music saved his life.

Davidson’s father was primarily of Jewish descent, with some distant German, Irish, and Italian ancestors. His mother is mostly Irish, with some distant German ancestors. Career

Davidson first appeared on screen in the third episode of the MTV comedy series Failosophy, which premiered on February 28, 2013. The following month, he appeared in “PDA and Moms,” the first of four episodes of the MTV2 reality TV comedy series Guy Code’s third season. His first televised standup performance aired in June as part of a second-season episode of the Comedy Central show Gotham Comedy Live, which features standup comedians at the Gotham Comedy Club in New York City. The following month, he made his MTV2 debut on Nick Cannon Presents: Wild ‘N Out, the first of six appearances on the show. He later performed stand-up on television and appeared in Brooklyn Nine-Nine. He bought it in 2014. He landed a role in Sober Companion, a Fox comedy pilot that never made it to series.

Davidson joined the Saturday Night Live cast with the show’s 40th season premiere on September 27, 2014. At the age of 20, he was the first SNL cast member born in the 1990s and one of the show’s youngest ever. Davidson, the show’s first new addition that season, was given a chance to audition by regular Bill Hader, whom he met while filming a small part in the 2015 Judd Apatow feature film comedy Trainwreck. Hader later informed producer Lorne Michaels about him. His debut received positive critical acclaim, with one of his most memorable skits during the season being an Indiana Jones-style sketch in which he and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, after being pelted with poison darts, were forced to suck poison from each other’s various body parts, an endeavour that eventually entangled them in the “69” position. Davidson was a roaster on the Comedy Central Roast of Justin Bieber in March 2015, and his set was praised as one of the best of the show. Among his more audacious jokes was one about fellow roaster Snoop Dogg, host Kevin Hart, and their 2004 film Soul Plane. Davidson, whose father was a firefighter who died in the September 11 attacks, described the film as “the worst experience of [his] life involving a plane.” He was named to the Forbes 30 under 30 list in 2016. In April of that year, Comedy Central filmed Pete Davidson: SMD, his first stand-up special, in New York City.

In January 2019, it was announced that Davidson would be touring with John Mulaney for a limited series of comedy shows titled “Sundays with Pete & John” in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Massachusetts. Mulaney and Davidson became close after appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Saturday Night Live. That May, following the 44th season finale of Saturday Night Live, Travis M. Andrews of The Washington Post credited Davidson with being the season’s most memorable performer and breakout star, which Andrews attributed to Davidson’s mining of his personal struggles and admission of his comedic missteps, which Andrews felt gave the season a mixture of comedy and pathos.

Davidson wrote the sketch “A Message from the Count” for Machine Gun Kelly’s album Hotel Diablo with Kelly. In 2019, he appeared as a supporting actor in Adam Shankman’s What Men Want, Jeff Tremaine’s The Dirt, Thurop Van Orman’s The Angry Birds Movie 2, and John Turturro’s The Big Lebowski spin-off The Jesus Rolls. Davidson’s Netflix stand-up special Alive from New York was released in February 2020. The King of Staten Island, which Davidson both starred in and co-wrote with Judd Apatow, who also directed, was released in May 2020. Davidson was nominated for The Comedy Movie Star of 2020 and The Comedy Act of 2020 for his work in The King of Staten Island. Alive from the 46th People’s Choice Awards in New York. Davidson was cast as Joey Ramone in the Netflix biopic I Slept With Joey Ramone in April 2021, based on the late singer’s brother’s memoir of the same name. Davidson will also serve as a co-writer and executive producer on the project. In August 2021, he appeared as Blackguard in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad. He provided the voice of Marmaduke in an animated film that will be released on Netflix on May 6, 2022. Following several long absences in season 47, it was announced shortly before the season’s finale that it would be Davidson’s final appearance on Saturday Night Live.

Davidson has received praise for basing his comedy on his own life and employing aspects of his life that have been described as “a series of brutal truths and vulgar confessions” that make him relatable to audiences. He discusses marijuana, sex, and relationships, among other things. He recalls incidents ranging from his awkward high school experiences to his brief stay at St. Francis College. He makes light of sensitive subjects, such as the death of his father during the September 11th attacks. He claims that it empowers him to address the sense of powerlessness he felt as a result of witnessing such tragedy at such a young age. He is a fan of the Harry Potter series and has incorporated that into his work.

Davidson lived in Brooklyn Heights, New York, in October 2015. In 2019, he shared a home on Staten Island with his mother, which they had purchased together. He moved into his own home on Staten Island in April 2021. On his left arm, Davidson has his father’s firefighter badge number, 8418, tattooed. Leo, the son of fellow comedian and friend Ricky Velez, has Davidson as his godfather.

Davidson backed Hillary Clinton in the 2016 U.S. presidential election, and on December 5, 2017, he revealed on Instagram that he had a tattoo of Clinton on his leg, whom he referred to as his “hero,” a “badass,” and “one of the strongest people in the universe.” Clinton thanked Davidson and joked, “This makes it significantly less awkward that I’ve had a Pete Davidson tattoo for years.” He backed Joe Biden for President of the United States in 2020.

Davidson had over 40 tattoos on his arms, legs, chest, hands, and neck by August 2018. During an interview in May 2021, he stated that he was having some of them removed.

Davidson and fellow SNL colleague Colin Jost purchased a decommissioned Staten Island ferry in January 2022 with plans to convert it into a comedy club.

Davidson announced plans to relocate from Staten Island to Brooklyn in February 2022.

Davidson was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease when he was 17 or 18 years old, and he uses medical marijuana for pain relief and recreational purposes. Davidson announced on his Instagram account on March 6, 2017, that he had quit drugs and was sober for the first time in eight years. Davidson clarified during an interview on comedian Marc Maron’s podcast that the only drug he used was marijuana, and that, while he has since reduced his use significantly, the personal and emotional problems he initially assumed were the result of his daily marijuana use were actually caused by his newly diagnosed borderline personality disorder, for which he has since been treated.

On Saturday, December 15, 2018, Davidson shared a candid Instagram post in which he expressed suicidal thoughts before deleting his Instagram account entirely. Davidson and Kim Kardashian were first seen together in October, shortly after Kardashian appeared on Saturday Night Live. During her hosting stint on Saturday Night Live, the two shared an on-screen kiss in a Disney-themed sketch in which they played Jasmine and Aladdin. In November 2021, they began dating. Kardashian previously filed for divorce from Kanye West in February 2021. Kardashian was legally declared single by a judge in March 2022, following a very public split. West made a reference to the relationship in his 2022 track “Eazy,” threatening to “beat Pete Davidson’s ass.”  The Eazy music video featured a claymation figure of Davidson being kidnapped, buried, and murdered.
